Thank you to everyone who made it along to the garden party at The Cottage. We enjoyed lots of Pimms, tasty cakes, ice cream and splendid raffle prizes while raising over £500. Thanks to Di and Eric for the use of their lovely garden .
Volunteering - Work parties were held each Saturday throughout October and November 2024. The main tasks carried out were laurel clearing, coppicing of elder and path clearing. Work parties will commence again in autumn 2025. Watch this space for details nearer the time.
Following the success of last years dinner we one again gathered for a very enjoyable evening including a superb meal on Saturday 23rd November.
A presentation about the making of the film 'four seasons in Shillingford Wood' gave an interesting insight into the film making process and some of the wildlife discoveries recorded. The film will be completed by the end of this year.
Details of the "Grand Premiere" to be announced later.
David Ramsden MBE is head of conservation at the Barn Owl Trust. His talk will include an introduction to the Barn Owl, the effects of changing farming practices, conservation measures for Barn Owls and the work of the Barn Owl Trust. His talk will illustrate the close links between Barn Owls and people, and show the environmental conseqences of everyday human activity.

Mr Nick de Cent is a local wildlife photographer who is widely travelled in pursuit of his photography. He has a wonderful collection of bird images from around the world. However, to avoid his presentation simply being a list of colourful images Nick will discuss how birds see and use colour including display, camoflage, signalling and pigmentation. This is sure to be an interesting and entertaining evening.

We have finally removed the last of the tree guards (although the odd few do remain deep in the undergrowth which we will remove as they surface).
We have a number of educational events in the pipeline so keep an eye out for details. Dates etc to be confirmed...
We have now completed installing bird and bat boxes including two tawny owl boxes. We're looking forward to seeing how many are used.
