volunteering - work parties
Volunteering - Our work parties for the 2026 - 2027 Autumn/winter seasons will recommence on 17th October 2026.
We will be focusing on invasive laurel removal. Also, footpath clearence and building a rainwater harvesting system and tree planting.
No particular skills required - we will find you a suitable task.
We meet at 10am at the bottom of the ski slope and usually finish by lunchtime. All tools and equipment will be supplied. However, you may wish to bring a drink and snack to keep you going.
Annual winter supper
Make a date in your diary. The Friends of Shillingford Wood and The Wildlife Group’s annual winter supper will take place on 21st November 2026 at Shillingford Village Hall. More details to appear shortly.

Tree guard removal
We have finally removed the last of the tree guards (although the odd few do remain deep in the undergrowth which we will remove as they surface).

Moth Hunt
This year a moth hunt was held at the Exeter Growers field, on 27th June at 8.45pm. Details of species seen will be posted once identifications have been confirmed.
