Work in the new plantation 2025

During the autumn and winter months you might find the permissive path in the new plantation closed for a few hours at a time. This is to allow for thinning of dead and diseased trees. This work is being undertaken in line with the woodland management plan.

The main pathway on the "ski-slope" and through the wood will remain open while this work is taking place.

We will keep any disruption to the absolute minimum. Please take note of any signage for your own safety.

At the end of October and into November a number of new trees will be planted in the main wood where  laurel has been removed.

Tree planting

We have now taken delivery of 25 native species trees. These include oak, beech, alder, lime and hazel. They  have  been planted in the area we cleared of laurel a couple of years ago.

We will be planting some sacrificial sycamore trees in close proximity in the hope that the squirrels will be attracted to the sweeter bark of the sycamore thus leaving the native species trees alone.
