Shillingford Wood is situated on the southern edge of the village of Shillingford St George, Devon in the lee of the Haldon Hills. It is within easy walking distance from the western fringes of the city of Exeter and surrounding villages. Shillingford Wood is locally known as ‘The Bluebell Wood’. It consists of nine acres of ancient woodland and three acres of mixed deciduous plantation. It is popular with walkers, wildlife enthusiasts and photographers.

Our film documentary follows a year in the life of our small twelve-acre wood at the top of the hill.
The film has been shown twice in Shillingford Village Hall to a total audience of over 100 people. The film is now going on tour to interested groups within the local area including Topsham and Exeter.
If there is enough interest we would arrange another viewing here in Shilingford.
The short trailer shows how documentary elements combine with soothing artistry to portray the holistic nature of the wood and its relationship with the wider environment.

We have now taken delivery of 25 native species trees. These include oak, beech, alder, lime and hazel. They have been planted in the area we cleared of laurel a couple of years ago.
We will be planting some sacrificial sycamore trees in close proximity in the hope that the squirrels will be attracted to the sweeter bark of the sycamore thus leaving the native species trees alone.
